North Ridgeville, is a city located along the eastern border of Lorain County, Ohio located 8 miles from the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and 18 miles from downtown Cleveland. The city’s population is around 29,465 residents. Founded in 1810 & incorporated as a city in 1960, a typical Middle American community with a “hometown” feel, known for its families and churches.
The French Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and the city of North Ridgeville needed to reduce the amount of sludge that lay idle in the plant and also reduce odors emitted to the environment. An Anaerobic Digester System was built to manage all of the sludge currently produced at the treatment plant and also offers regional businesses an alternative to landfilling their organic waste. The energy created is distributed locally, providing enough electricity to power 618 homes and offsetting the need for traditional fossil fuels. In addition, operating costs are reduced by controlling the treatment plant’s energy costs and reducing sludge disposal expenses.
An 810 kWe bio-gas Guascor engine/generator was installed with a complete waste heat recovery system. Utility Grade-Switchgear and Synchronization along with the engine / generator controls installed in a Modular Enclosure package.
